Marketing to Children

What I have learned doing my PSA for my Food and Nutrition Class is that there are so many companies that market to children. I believe the companies shouldn't be blamed, I think the PARENTS, should take all the blame because children will believe what any says anything to them, it is the parents responsiblity to educate their kids and not BUY them junk food. EVEN if parents can't afford to buy healthy organic food because they buy junk food ebcause its cheap, they can atleast buy healthy food from grocery stores even thought they are not organic, that is better than the value meal from McDonald. I think company's should take a look at the children in their country and decided if its the right choice their making. BUT at the end of the day companies don't care about kids health, they just want to make money.

Late Night Snacks !

I learned that its best to eat food atleast three to four hours before you go to bed. It is because your organs need to rest and if you eat about an hour before you go to bed, all your food will be stored as fat! Something interesting, people sheould keep in mind and not have late night SNACKS!

Monsanto strain won’t be banned...

I didn't know what Monsanto was before I watched Food Inc. in our Food and Nutrition class. I read this article at www.rt.com where they talked about Monsanto still have the ability to crush countries on legal battlefield. It is known that France is by far the only country attempting to get rid of Monsanto's maize. The billion dollar corporation is located no other than the United States, where there are protesters in the streets who seemed to care. There is a Occupy Monsanto movement where thousands of people joined in March where they marched through Washington, DC, Seattle, and LA. The prtesters accused the biotech giant of the anti-competitive actions like cleaing its reputation with multi-billion dollar cash and bankrupting independent farmers in order to force them into using their genetically-engineered seeds. The movement is planning to launch another round of protests during the harvesting season in 2012.

Canadian Pie!

I was on YouTube watching a movie clip where I came across the movie American Pie, in which I decided to make the pie because I really liked the way the pie looked. I'm not a big fan of pie, but I decided to make an apple pie to see if I can make it as the same as the one in the movie.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
  2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

come más sano - eat more healthy.

This is how the fast food industry ALWAYS gets into people's
mind by good advertising and not going to a healthier
choice of organic food. These ads show what will happen
to your stomach when fast food come in.

Is It Food?

As Michael Pollan once said,
“Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food.”

Fast Food Proven Addictive as Drugs | Junk Foods, Obesity, Psychetruth W...

Wow, but as long as you're eating tons of vegetables and avoiding processed junk, I think you're doing good. Raw vegan is pretty extreme, but those who do it, love it.
